Description:
This is an antique English melon shaped tin pudding mold or mould made 1890-1910. The melon shaped mold which my husband calls a bicycle helmet shape, measures 4 inches high by 7 inches long by 5 inches wide and consisti of a body with a lid and intact ring which is relatively rare. The mold or mould was used to bake or steam cakes or puddings in a water bath or oven and was lifted out with the ring. This mold is in good condition as the lid is there, fits well and the ring is intact. However, it was neglected at some time in it's life and there are tiny holes on the lid where corrosion has eaten through the metal. There are a few rust spots by the handle and a few old silver metal patch jobs inside the lid. But...saying all that...still a very fun and decorative bit of kitchenalia.
