Beginning with the mahogany, which was treated to an elaborate finishing process to produce a rich complexion and grain, the appearance of this bookcase is unequivocally stunning. Of course, the bow front design itself is quite elegant, not to mention the moulding at the top of the bookcase, while rosewood banding runs along the face. The shelves are thick and strong, able to support great weight, while the plinth base is durable and firm. All six shelves are fully adjustable by means of a traditional alligator bracket system, which was popularized during the Georgian and Victorian periods.
