This gorgeous Sideboard was made in England, circa 1890. We purchased it in London, England. The Sideboard/Buffet is made of Mahogany. It has a rich, Deep, Mahogany Patina. This is an English Victorian Sideboard/Buffet. It is in very good condition.
The Sideboard/Buffet has a high, stately Mirrored-back Gallery. The Cornice of the Gallery is deeply moulded with an Arched Pediment and Scrolling Corners.
A Scrolling Foliage Cartouche is carved at the center of the Cornice.
The large, square, Beveled Mirror is flanked by lovely Bobbin and Baluster Turned Columns.
T are Corner Shelves connected to the bottom of the Columns. These are supported upon lush Scroll-cut Supports.
The Mirror is flanked by beautifully carved, Fixed Panels with opulent Scroll Work Cartouche at their centers.
A beautiful Cartouche is carved into the Frieze that runs below the Mirror.
The Top of the Sideboard has a carved Ogee Edge.
The Base of the Buffet consists of Two Drawers over Two Large Doors. The Drawers open to reveal beautiful, finely built Dovetail Joints. They have roomy interiors which are perfect for storing your fine silver settings.
The Doors are embellished with a stunning Strap Work Carving depicting a large Urn with Flowers and Foliage flowing out of the top.
These open to reveal a roomy interior fitted with a wide, Mahogany Shelf. Your China will store beautifully.
The Hardware is all original. This includes the opulently formed, Scroll Work Escutcheons and Drop Pulls, Bale Handles, Lock and Skeleton Key.
The Sideboard is supported upon Scalloping Stile Feet.
