Description:
This exquisite 6ft dining table is a newly crafted reproduction of a Georgian-Period antique. As such, it has been handmade by a third-generation cabinetmaker, who always uses only the finest techniques and materials available. The result is a stunning dining table with a remarkably rich burl walnut complexion and grain. Of course, the striking appearance of the table owes in large part to the inlay of burl walnut veneers in the table top, which duplicates a single pattern by using cross sections of the same grain. The wood itself was treated to an elaborate finishing process that ended in a hand-rubbed coat of wax, which not only makes the burl walnut beautiful, but also durable against use. The fluted edges and legs also look rather elegant, as do the solid brass feet, which rest on casters for convenient movement. The strong base is a traditional birdcage base with turned columns. This table disassembles into the top and base, the former of which secures to the latter by the insertion of four pins in the underside.
