Description: EMPIRE BRONZE ANDIRONS Circa. 1850 Extraordinary and exquisite pair of antique French Empire andirons. Each andiron measures 17 inches high, 13 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Each andiron weighs 17 lbs. The workmanship is remarkable. Notice the detail of the flames, the four cherubs and the two bronze faces, all of which are executed to perfection. These could be the final touch to the most extraordinary Empire-style room. There is a certain amount of wear to the bronze, but the patina only adds to the impact of the design. However, they can be gilded or polished, if so desired.
