Description: "Ecce Homo" are the Latin words used by Pontius Pilate in the Vulgate translation of the Gospel of John (19:5), when he presented a scourged Jesus Christ, bound and crowned with thorns, to a hostile crowd shortly before his Crucifixion. The King James Version translates the phrase into English as Behold the Man. The scene is a very popular subject in Christian art, and "Ecce Homo"is commonly used as a title for any artistic work that depicts the scene. This lovely little bronze is Made in France, c.1920-1930 and is in very good condtion. There is a small hole in the back, this is a "vent" hole not a flaw. Bust sits on a verdi marble base.
