Description:
This gorgeous mahogany sideboard was handmade in Victorian England around 1880 and recently imported to our Atlanta furniture store. The mahogany, which was treated to an elaborate finishing process that ended in a fine French polish, displays a rich complexion and a striking grain. In marked contrast with the mahogany are the elegant inlay patterns around the cabinet doors as well as the satinwood string inlays. The square tapered legs are as sturdy as they are beautiful, and this sideboard is in fact quite sturdy. It has sustained a few wear marks here and there, however, and it has lost its original brass gallery. The pulls, too, have been recently replaced, and the outlines of the original pulls can be seen behind them. The left cabinet door has developed a separation in the wood, which is purely cosmetic and thus does not affect structural integrity. Overall, therefore, the condition of this sideboard is very good.
