Description:
Here we have a very elegant longcase clock. The case is in very well figured mahogany and it was probably made in the regency period around 1810-20. The dial is signed by the maker Ja. Thomson, Wooten under Edge. The clock stands on its original bracket feet and has a beautifully figured base with box wood and ebony stringing. The slim trunk has a matching door with similar stringing. The hood has slim reeded columns with very smart gilt brass Corinthian capitals. At the top is an elegant swan neck pediment with gilt brass patria snd a ball and eagle finial. The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart circular dial. The dial has subsidiary seconds dial and date dial (not working) and nice cut steel hands. The case is in good unrestored condition and is a lovely original colour. The movement and dial are also in good condition, working well and keeping good time. The clock is complete with pendulum, weights, bell and a winding key.
