Description:
The Panelled (Paneled) Wheat pattern was made by the Hobbs, Brockunier & Company of Wheeling, WVA circa 1871. The patent was issued on Feb. 28, 1871 for Hobbs design No. 4689. This beautiful opal glass sugar bowl is fairly uncommonly seen with the spoon holder rack. The bowl stands 7-1/2" tall to the top of the finial. The finial is a shock of wheat. It is 5-1/4" in diameter at the rim. The cupped foot is 3-1/2" in diameter. There are no chips, flakes. This pattern comes in many variations such as the rims on spooners are either plain or milled. The stems can have a ring or not. The sugar bowls come with or without the spoonrack. And so far I have counted 4 different butter dishes. This is a great pattern to collect.
