Description:
This is a beautiful flint Milk Glass Tree of Life pattern bowl made by the Challinor & Taylor Glass Co of Pittsburgh, PA circa 1885. The embossed flowers leaves and stems are all hand enamel decorated in greens, pinks and blues on the milk glass. The pattern is known as Chillinor Tree of Life. The pattern is also known as Daisy. The pierced edge adds to its beauty as does the raised pattern in the bottom of the bowl, which is uncolored. I have tried to show it in photo #3. It was made by Challinor and Taylor between 1885 and 1893. The United States Glass Corp (US Glass) may have also made the pattern after their merger of 1893. The glass itself is a dense white glass high in lead content. It has a beautiful belltoned ring when tapped. The bowl is 8 1/2" in diameter and 4" tall. The condition of the original colored decoration is perfect. You may see some straw marks in the glass but there are no chips, flakes or cracks.
