Description:
This is a beautiful clear glass cake stand in the Willow Oak pattern. It was made by Bryce Brothers Glass Co. of Pittsburgh, PA circa 1880. The pattern was continuned by The United States Glass Corp after their merger of 1891. The original name of this pattern was Bryce's Wreath. It is also known as Acorn; Acorn and Oak Leaf; Oak Leaf; Stippled Daisy; Thistle and Sunflower; and as Willow and Oak. This cake stand is 4-1/4" tall and 9-1/4" in diameter at the upturned rim. The foot is 4" in diameter and has a hollow stem. The stem and the plate are wafer joined. This cake stand has been well used and well cared for. While there are no chips, flakes or cracks, there are utensil marks radiating out from the center of the plate. There may also be some bubbles and straw marks present but that is very common in hand made glass and only adds to its appeal.
