Description:
This is a handy AND classic retro electric cooking pot by Westinghouse, made of heavy aluminum. I have found none like it in my research on-line--the electric pans are found, but not pots. I think of how helpful this would have been when I was camping in my motor home. A great pot for making chili or soup or a pot roast, it is also attractive, with a modern open handle on both pot and lid. It stands solidly on 4 feet, in the same cool style as the handles. The feet are firmly attached with screws. It comes with the original plug with tempurature controls that plug into the base of the pot. The tempurature guage has settings for warm up to 450 degrees (and off), and is marked Westinghouse. A guide for cooking temperatures is affixed to the end of the handle, letting us know that 200 degreees is for simmering; sauces are at 200/225; stewing is at 212 (mind you!); browning 350/400; pop corn 400; pot roast 425-212; and vegetables 425-212. Handles, feet, and tempurature control are made of hard black plastic material. The pot lid has adjustable air vents on the top. The pot alone is 4.5 inches high and about 8 inches in diameter; the feet add another 1.75 inches to the height. Embossed in the heavy aluminum of the bottom is: 3 qt. Cat. No. S-23 115 v. 1000 W. Westinghouse Completely Immersible Made in U.S.A. UL. The bottom of the tempurature control reads: 115 V. 1500 watts. Cat. No. C-18, etc. The control is NOT immersible. As for condition, there are some surface scratches as usual for aluminum that has been used. The plug appears to be in excellent condition. Overall, I would rate it as excellent. Please see the other large electric pan I have posted for auction!
