Description:
This lovely boudoir bedside lamp is known as DUTCH COUPLE, produced in blue satin Depression glass with a white satin glass shade, during the 1930s and is shown on pg 174 in Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years by Whitmyer, Featuring a man and woman in traditional Dutch clothing. The glass is fired on blue from the inside and frosted crystal on the outside, so creating a muted blue satin glass appearance. The couple is standing on a pentagonal base. The lamp shade is fired on white inside with frosted crystal outside and has a vertical ribbed pattern with scalloped rim and around the top. The Art Deco silvertone metal tip has a three stepped design and is attached to the inner metal clasp for the light bulb. Measuring about 12 inches tall, the shade is 6 1/2inches in diameter. With the exception of very light wear to the fired on color and some small chips under the shade rims, the antique lamp is in excellent condition , with no damage to the figural base. It has been rewired and is fully functional.
