Description:
Here is a wonderful , country style, drop sided table made about 1880. This table has a one board top ( 21 1/2 inches wide) made from mahogany while the bottom is made from heart pine. The table top measures 21 1/2 inches by 41 inches with the drop sides in the down position. The table has two pine drawers, one from each end, that are built with hand cut dovetails and chamfered bottoms. The table base is hand made as well with large hand cut dovetails into the top of each leg. Each leg is lathe turned with great detail from top to bottom. The legs end in a solid brass cup with a brown porcelean wheel caster. Each drop side measures 9 1/2 inches wide by 41 inches long. The mahogany top and pine base have a walnut stain to blend the woods nicely. This table has been refurbished and restored to its original patina. This is a great piece of 1880's handmade furniture from the U.S. heartland.
