Description: Very early specimen in very good condition. Crank wheel is stamped "Dover Egg Beater Pat. Made In Boston U.S.A" The number 4 is stamped under wooden knob. The number 11 is stamped under handle. The overall length is 9 1/2" with a whell diameter of 2 1/2". The first egg beaters appeared in the 1850's and since that time more than 1000 patents have been awarded for different designs. Dover egg beaters were so popular that at one point the generic term "dovering eggs" was used to describe the egg beating process in recipes. Dover egg beaters remain very collectable today.
