Description: Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry.

Table of Contents

Many of history's most skilled clockmakers practiced their craft in the Southern states during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Their works incorporated unique artistry and imagination, and many remain today as monuments to their makers.

As a result of many years of exhaustive study and research, author James W. Gibbs has now produced a comprehensive history of those men and their works. Also included in this volume are illustrations of some of the most outstanding examples of Southern clockmaking, along with advertisements used by the individual craftsmen to promote their works.

Author Gibbs has written widely on the subject of clockmaking in the South. He is the author of four other books, including Shaker Clockmakers and Buckeye Horology.

A former president of the 24,000-member National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Gibbs also has served as vice chairman of the Valley Forge State Park Commission. He also holds membership in the Royal Society of St. George, the National Society of Old Plymouth Descendants, the Society of Mayflower Descendants, Sons of the American Revolution, and the St. Nicholas Society of New York.
