Description:
We hereby present this beautiful Large Copper and Brass Wine
Cooler, created by the Art Nouveau genius of Carl Deffner. It is
constructed mainly of Copper with Brass handles, the design is
brilliant as well as its execution. The Patina is beautiful and
attests to its hundred old age while adding to the character and
beauty. It stands 9.05 inches high or 23 Centimeters and is 8.26
inches in diameter or 21 centimeters and at the handles it is
13.38 inches wide or 34 centimeters and it has a small dent in
the bottom side. Given the age the overall condition is very
good. It is a lovely piece of Art. Carl Deffner was one of the
greatest Art Nouveau, (Jugendstil) Decorative Arts Designers and
producers in the world. He was born in 1856 and died in 1948.
He came from a long family line of Metal Ware Artists. The
family factory and design house, was established in the city of
Esslingen Germany in 1815, by the grandfather of Carl Deffner,
Carl Christian Ulrich Deffner, born in 1789 and died in 1846.
From 1890 to 1915 the Deffner Factory and designers produced
some of the finest Art Nouveau products in the world. Many of
the products of the Deffner family are exquisite, worthy of
museum collections.
