Dawson's exhaustively researched and vivid accounts of American military action through 1847 are accompanied by related military letters and dispatches and profiles of important officers. Volume I covers the American Revolution and Volume II details battles from 1790-1847. Born in England in 1821, Henry B. Dawson moved to New York with his family as a teenager. After an early career in publishing, Scott became a devoted historian, dedicated to challenging myths of American history.
