Description:
This lovely Czech Peasant Art Pottery hand painted heart shaped wall pocket is vividly covered with pretty flowers. The Czech Republic was famous for this hand painted pottery. Czech as well as wallpocket collectors love it. The back has a number and it has been identified from the area of Chodovia which had a factory that operated for 200 years. The flowers are red, purple, and blue. They are really striking on the white background. Most of these peasant pieces have a black background. The white ones are much harder to find and it appears that fewer of them were made. The condition is very good with no damage to this vintage piece. You can find examples of this Czech Peasant Art Pottery listed in the "Czechoslovakian Pottery" book by Ellis, Bower, & Closser. I do not think you will find a lovelier example than this wall pocket. I have also listed a similar heart and flora Czech pocket with the black background.
