Description: This is a vintage motto ware or mottoware cream and sugar basin set made 1920-1930s by Longpark, Torquay Devon England in a traditional cottage design. The cream, creamer or milk jug measures 3 inches high and has the motto Still Waters Run Deep. The sugar bowl or sugar basin measures 2.5 inches high by 4 in diameter and has the motto East Or West Home's Best. The cream and sugar are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. A wonderful set of mottoware with great sayings from a very collectible pottery. This Famous and fun motto ware or mottoware has been manufactured in the south of England from the 1860s until the factories closed in the 1960s. It is usually of red clay decorated with bright glazes, cottages and mottos or sayings that run the gamut from proverbs and sound advice to nearly outrageous.
