Fine Brass Bound Coromandel Silver Dressing Case, brass bound to protect the edges and corners, a brass plaque with the initials ELH is situated on the lid.The lid of the Coromandel Silver Dressing Case is lined with dark blue velvet edged with black leather, this can be reversed to reveal a mirror on the other side. Behind the mirror is a dark blue leather envelope which would have been used to store letters.The interior contains an assortment of beautiful glass bottles and oblong toiletry containers with star cut bases and sterling silver lids, Hall Marked and engraved with the initials ELH. The Hallmark suggests that the silver was made in London in 1875 by Thomas Whitehouse. The glass bottles and toiletry containers are all in good condition with no breaks or cracks. A blue lift out tray is in the centre on which there is a set of accoutrements with Mother of Pearl handles. The main part of the interior of the box also lifts out to reveal further storage space beneath to store such items as brushes or combs, this is lined with dark blue leather.A beautiful jewellery drawer can accessed by pushing down a pin at the back of the case just in front of the lid and the drawer containing the jewellery case springs forward. The case is lined with dark blue velvet and silk, edged with gold paper and has several compartments for storing jewellery plus a special section for earrings and an area for a watch or bracelet.Comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.Dimensions: L 12" X W 9" X H 7"Ref:Corodress1903
