Description: This is a very hard to find clay amphora liquor bottle that originally held the liquor named Corfinio, which is an herbal formula that was passed along in the Barattucci family for 140 years. The recipe is apparently a secret! The glass bottles are now the only type of bottle you can buy this liqueur in these days, which is 39% volume liqueur. The clay bottles are very old and scarce. This particular one has a small chip on the edge of the base, on the bottom of the bottle, which measures 1/2" in length, 1/8 inch in width, and trace depth. Typical for this kind of bottle, and actually, this one is in quite good condition for it's type. The arm handles are completely intact, the neck and mouth of the bottle are intect, there are no other chips, cracks or breaks, and the rope is still present and intact, not fraying, with the bottle label on the top mostly gone, but the bottle label on the base front is still intact. It is, however, darkened and some of the lettering is hard to read. There is also a small tag on the very bottom of the base. The most beautiful and unusual facet of this bottle, is the handpainted design. There are so few of this type and shape of Corfinio bottle, that even the average scene painted on them is usually just a landscape. This bottle, however, has a deer painted on one side, nibbling on a weeping cherry tree, lots of gorgeous pinks and greens as so vivid, and bright, it really makes this bottle special! The other side of the bottle has a serene scene of trees, birds, and grass,.. the usual. The paint is in minty condition, none of it or the glaze has worn or chipped off. This is truly a find for the avid miniature or antique liquor bottle collector!Feel free to ask questions via the site, and I'll get back to you (via the site) as well!
