Condition:
VERY GOOD
In overall very good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature are used items and will show signs of normal wear due to age and use. As we define 'very good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see 'character marks' consistent with that age and could include minor nicks or dings on a piece of furniture, normal separation at joints in wood due to expansion and contraction over time, all locks functioning, and all drawers and doors open or slide easily. If there has been a break in the marble, it has been so expertly repaired that it is difficult to tell. If some of the original trim has been replaced or minor restoration has been performed, it has been so expertly done that it is difficult to tell. Upholstered items may show wear consistent with age and use. EuroLux Antiques makes no representation regarding the comfort or useability for the customer's particular application.
Item Specifics:
Shows normal wear to finish and miscellaneous nicks, dings, and scratches due to age and use. It's quite comfortable to sit in!
Material: Oak
Material 2:
LEATHER
In its broadest sense, leather is any type of tanned animal hide. Different types of leather are characterized by both the type of animal skin used and the tanning and manufacturing methods employed. Artifical leather (pleather, leatherette) is a fabric of finish intended to substitute for leather in upholstery and clothing where a leather-like finish is required but the actual natural material is cost-prohibitive or unsuitable. EuroLux Antiques uses the word leather to define both natural and artificial leather.
Style: Mid-Century Modern
MID-CENTURY MODERN STYLE
Decorative arts and architecture from the period after World War II and continuing through the 1960s is known as Mid-Century Modern, and in many ways is a continuation of the sleek, streamlined aesthetic developed with the Art Deco style. Hallmarks of the Mid-Century Modern style are a great emphasis on utility and functionality as well as simplicity and the use of natural shapes. Architects continued to employ the principles of Frank Lloyd Wright, by streamlining homes with the use of open floor plans and bringing the outside in by using ample windows. Sometimes called Danish or Swedish Modern, furniture from this era was created in very light woods and continued to use the rectilinear and streamlined forms of Art Deco. The Heywood-Wakefield furniture brand was a household name, while modern chairs designed by Charles Eames were in great demand. Russel and Mary Wright influenced all aspects of home design with their Iroquois chinaware and with the publication of Guide to Easier Living in 1950.
