Description:
This is a cookbook called Cooking for American Homemakers. It was compiled by the Culinary Arts Institute in Chicago, Illinois and edited by Ruth Berolzheimer in 1967. It has 1040 pages including the index. It is in very good condition with the wear one would expect of a cookbook this old. You might find some brown spots and a note written in the margins. Some of the inside front and back covers have pieces of the picture missing. I don't see any missing or ripped pages. I would say the flaws or minor. There is some wear to the cover as seen in the pictures. It has indexed pages. It contains many of the recipes from the 1950 edition. It has over 700 menus for every day of the year, facts about foods, varieties of foods, rules and advice, kitchen gadgets and equipment. Sample recipes are Cottage Cheese Dreams, Sweetbread Soup, Bohemian Christmas Twist, Cranberry Chicken Mold, Meatloaf in Blanket, Carrot Custard, Baked Tomatoes and Corn, Apple Stuffed Spareribs, Sweet Sour Spinach, and Peach and Rice Custard Loaf. This Cooking for American Homemakers cookbook is a classic and would please any chef, new or old.
