One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell that we will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. He also served as a delegate to the American Kennel Club for decades. His wonderful collection of books has been carefully maintained. The Complete Dog Book. By Dr. William A. Bruette. Cincinnati, OH. Steward Kidd Company, 1922. 2nd revised and enlarged ed. 366 + 8p. adv., black cloth with gilt lettering, top edges tinted red, 24 pages of b&w illustrations. Contains bench show standards and scales of points laid down by the Specialty Clubs in America and Great Britain. The second part of the book is devoted to the breeding and management of dogs. Covers have slight wear. Mr. Fretwell's bp on front fixed endpaper. Very clean. VG+ to NF condition.
