Description: Unusual and exceptional clear glass match striker with clear, inverted round detail on a ribbed background. Original sterling rim and well are clearly hallmarked London 1926. As the name suggests, loose matches would be stored in the inverted well, and then individually struck across the ribbing on the glass, producing friction, and thereby flame.
