The hunting groups of Pierre-Jules Mene
(1810-1879) are consistently among the best of the genre. His Hunt of the Fox depicts a French huntsman of the Louis XV period leading his hounds on the trail of a fox. The scale and detailed artistry of this bronze makes a strong statement in any home or office environment. It has been finished with a deep, rich patina applied under high heat so that it has permanently fused into the bronze itself.
