Description:
This intriguing and stunning bronze is a Chinese ancestral double hu jar with 9 lively Chi dragons. The lid doubles for a brush rest, while the jars were used for a small spray of flowers. This is one of the most beautiful scholar objects that I have ever had the privilege of selling. It exhibits a good amount of age as evidenced by some verdigris with reddish tones of a dark chocolate patina. Please take into account that all genuine antique bronzes will have a noticeable amount of wear and imperfections, casting flaws, weak spots, abrasions, dings, etc. This vase is in very good to excellent condition. We believe it to be late 18th century, but are dating and pricing it as a very late to early 19th century (1790-1845) bronze. More photos available upon request.
