Description:
Chinese four-panel porcelain table screen, containing hand painted enameled scenes with various figures. The rectangular shaped porcelain tiles are enclosed within carved rosewood frames. Each of the four tiles depicts a Mandarin with various objects: (1) Man in a woven bamboo hat holding a staff and a basket of flowers in a green robe; (2) Man in an aubergine robe holding a purple object in his hands; (3) Man in a rose and green robe next to a basket with geese and a lake in the background; (4) Man in a blue robe holding a small item in his right hand while standing next to a light blue urn. The colors are still vibrant. This fine piece was acquired in 1998, from the collection of Bessie Marie Harris (most of which had been on exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art for 20 years). Condition: Very good condition, with the exception of a few minor imperfections in the porcelain and glaze from the original firing and painting, and a small chip in the third tile in the upper corner under the frame.
