Description:
This is a rare and unusual Chinese Rare Wee Childrens Ink Box with Lid, c.1870. The vase is beautifully decorated with seven children on the top reserve, twenty on the top rim, nineteen on the bottom rim, all attired in colorful robes and costumes in various pursuits, and is ornately enameled. The inside of the top lid has an unglazed rim; the base has an unglazed top rim with raised foot, for a snug fit with the top. The modeling, painting, and glaze are masterfully done with white background decorated with sage green, willow green, sky blue, plum, iron red, and aqua. The underside bottom is glazed; the bottom of the raised foot rim is unglazed. Dimensions (in inches): 1.5 Tall X 3.6 Diameter. Weight is 0 Lbs. 4.5 Oz. The date is circa 1870, early 19th Century. Condition: There is a small 1/8-inch diameter chip on the top rim edge; there are two small 1/16-inch diameter chips on the bottom rim edge. There is a bit of fading and rubbing to some of the figures. Otherwise, the Ink Box is in good condition. This item is sold as is, as described.
