Description:
Ming dynasty porcelain wine cup, Tianqi rabbit signature, ca.1521-27. Dimensions are 2-1/2" tall, by 3-3/8" wide (at mouth rim). This fine little wine cup is decorated in a brilliant white ground with an encompasing a blooming garden trellis scene. There is the use of underglaze cobalt-blue to outline the underglaze the geometric form of the fence and overglaze translucent jade green leaves. The inner mouth rim has a repeating diaper pattern in red and outlined in underglaze cobalt-blue. The center of the inner bowl has an outlined medallion decorated with a red and jade-green peach. The wine cup has a medium foot and an unglazed foot. The foot rim is recessed and glazed and bearing in underglaze cobalt-blue the Tianqi rabbit signature. The overall condition consensus is extremely fine condition with no injury or repair. a2/38
