Description: Here is a lovely pair of intensely green Sancai fine early pottery Foo dogs. These are actually Joss stick holders, used for lighting candles in religious ceremonies. The dogs are from a fine Eastern estate and had been appraised by Sotheby's as of the period by former owner in the 1970's. The distinctive matched pair stands about 11".Interesting details to collar and heads, great flamboyant style and and unusual glaze. They date to the early to mid 19th century These dogs are hollow bodies as are the bases. Condition: Very good. Some slight wear as visable in photos.
