Description:
This is a rare and unusual Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Gilded Oval Hexagonal Spoon Tray, circa 1770. The central reserve décor includes a charming garden scene with five Mandarin style figures attired in colorful robes and a dog. The raised stylized cavetto border includes gold scrafito and eight small scenic reserves. It is ornately gilded and enameled; the modeling, painting, and glaze are masterfully done with white background beautifully decorated with many colors including famille rose pink, sage green, purple, peach, and light blue. The underside bottom is unglazed. Dimensions (in inches): 3.1 Tall X 5.0 Wide X 0.6 Deep. Weight is 2.3 Oz. The date is circa 1770, late 18th Century. Condition: There is a bit of rubbing type wear to the central reserve and the gilded rim. The spoon tray is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or other defects other than firing flaws and minor wear; no apparent restorations.
