Description:
This is a rare and unusual Chinese Export Porcelain Gilded Square Spoon Tray, circa 1820. The décor includes three Mandarin style figures attired in colorful robes; they stand next to a tree and a rocky plinth. The spoon tray is ornately enameled and gilded and includes blue stylized cavetto border. The modeling, painting, and glaze are masterfully done with white background beautifully decorated with many colors including famille rose pink, sage green, lilac purple, and blue. The underside bottom is unglazed. Dimensions (in inches): 4.2 Tall X 4.2 Wide X 0.6 Deep. Weight is 4.0 Oz. The date is circa 1820, early 19th Century. Condition: The spoon tray is in good condition, with no chips, cracks, or other defects other than firing flaws and minor wear; no apparent restorations.
