A BEAUTIFUL CHINESE ARCHITECTURAL GILT WOOD ARCH W/DRAGONS, SUN, CLOUD AND GEOMETRIC DESIGNS This large and striking archway, hand-carved of solid wood, probably came from an imperial residence; the dragon symbolizes the power of heaven (and the Emperor), the clouds are of the heavens, the sun is the central emblem symbolizing the giving of light and life to all things.
The condition of this piece is very good, with minor repairs and imperfections due to its 19th century age and origin. This is a rare and spectacular wall piece that can be placed on a wall as a work of art, and also be used over a door or entryway. Additional photos are available upon request.
