Description:
Miniature English Bow front chest with 2 over 3 draws graduating in depth size from the lower to the upper. This mid 19th century chest also features a pull out slide right above the top drawers. This chest was likely a trade (salesmen’s) sample which are quite rare. It is beautifully crafted in mahogany, rosewood, tiger satinwood and ebony. The overall case is made of mahogany with satinwood on the front drawers, top and sides. Rosewood bands the front portion of the drawers along with ebony and satin inlay. The little brass pulls are original as the entire piece is unchanged from when it was made. The finish is French polished and the condition is outstanding. The base has a scroll cut out shape on the sides and front and the feet splay out from the base. This little gem is in nearly unused condition as it is a showpiece but can function very well as a jewelry or collectors chest.
