Description:
This cast iron cherry pitter is based on the original patent of H. Buckwalter of Kimberton, PA, 11/17/1863, as improved by William Weaver, Phoenixville, PA 5/15/1866. This specimen was manufactured by the Scott Manufacturing Company and the above patent dates are embossed around the perimeter (front) of the pitter. This type of pitter is very attractive with its cabriole legs embossed with a leaf design that design repeats itself on both sides of the hopper on the top of the pitter. This wonderful little pitter is in Very Good + condition with no rust or cracks. One of the thumb tabs on a wing nut that secures the hopper to the top of the pitter is missing but this would be very simple to replace with another vintage wing nut. With a height of 7” and a length of 10 7/8” this early cherry pitter would make a beautiful accent piece in any room and would make a great addition to any kitchen utensil collection.
