Marble shooting has been a worldwide pastime for thousands of years, and games have been known as Immies, Mibs, Ringer or just plain Marbles. In 1890 the first machine made marbles were made in Germany and later that year in the U.S. There are 3 types of games that employ the use of marbles:
Chase Games - Where 2 players shoot at each other's marbles along a set course - to win their opponents's collection of marbles.
Enclosure Games - Where marbles are shot at other marbles within a marked off area.
Hole Games - Where marbles are shot or bowled into a series of holes.
This Collection of 76 Marbles, which includes 8 shooters and an assortment of 68 corkscrews, cat eye's and iridescents that come in their original 12 inches x 4 inches x 2 inches wooden box with a plexiglass sliding lid. In very good + condition they look like they were never used, the shooters measure 1 inch in diameter while the marbles measure 7/8 inch in diameter. A wonderful addition to any American Marble Collection.
