Description: This is a Set of Twelve Late Victorian Folding Croquet Chairs. The Chairs are made of Birch and have a Medium Birch Patina. They are in very good condition. The Chairs have been refinished. This was an extremely time consuming task preformed by our refinishing staff. However, the results were worth it. The Chairs are gorgeous! They turned out to be extraordinarily elegant for Victorian Croquet Chairs. The Crest Rails are straight. They are carved with Horizontal Fluting. Six Turned Vertical Spindles connect the Horizontal Rail below to the Crest Rail. The Stiles are carved with Vertical Fluting. They flow downward to become the Front Legs of the Chair. The Legs have a folding X-Frame Design. Turned Stretchers connect the Legs. The Mechanism which allows the Chairs to have a folding design is quite clever. There are Brackets at either end which slide up and down a Pierced Slot on each Leg. A Metal Rod attaches the Brackets together. The Chairs are very sturdy and comfortable! New Pressed Fiber Upholstery Seat Covers with the look of Leather cover the Seats. The Pattern were pressed from the original brass dies of the 1890's. They have an ornate design with a Rosette at the center flanked by opulent Rococo Shells and Scroll Work. They are stained Sienna Brown. They add a very elegant touch to the design of the Chairs.
