Description: 18th. century Ottoman flintlock pistol with marvelous inlaid decorations of mother of pearl, gilded brass and gold or heavy gilding. The mother of pearl decorations and inlaid brass ornaments form a floral design pattern. The top of the barrel is decorated with inlaid silver in shape of 2 mihrabs and floral patterns. The decorations above the trigger appear to be in gold, or an alloy of gold and brass. Length: 21.2" (54 cm.). Estimated value: $5000. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's collection, the renown author of the collectors textbook: "Antique swords and daggers".
