Description:
18th.-19th. century wood sceptre ju yi (pronounced ru yi) with phenomenal white jade carving in 4-5 super-imposed layers of carving in the style of mysterious ivory color ball carvings. due to the hardness of the jade, the carving in several layers from above without splitting the jade matter is miraculous. Carving of the jade was done by a lapidary master in homogeneous, flawless white-celadon jade. This scepter is a museum quality art object of superlative quality. Size: 19.8" X 4.8" (50 cm. X 12 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors' textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors" and the owner of Objets d'Art Uniques Internet store. Estimated value: $10.000-15.000.
