Description: These pieces crowning the barns of the mid-west were highly prized in years past and darned hard to acquire. This one was purchased about 30 years ago directly from the source. The reproductions that are made have long tails on the horses. The original ones have the short bob tails that draft horses would have actually had. You can also see the lines of hair on the tail and the mane (which only is on one side of this horse) The paint is old, though likely not original since these working weathervanes would have been painted many many times. A great Americana piece.
