Description: 14K yellow gold antique cameo made around 1870. The shell cameo has a taupe brown background with the woman a pale white. Her wavy hair is tied with a ribbon and her dress drapes over her shoulder. The edge of the cameo is signed Neri F. The frame is fabulous! It has a hollow round shape with a hand engraved pattern and 4 stations that look like a fabric swag. On the back of the frame there is a hook for a pocketwatch or locket. The platform where the pin stem is attached is shaped in such a way that it appears this piece could have originally been intended as a clasp. The pin stem, hook and hinge are old and likely original to the piece. The brooch measures 2 inches x 1.8 inches across. Considering its age, this cameo is in very good condition.
