Description: A marvelous 19th century center compote with a profusion of applied flowers all over the surface. A pair of putti or cherubs with cute little wings hold up the reticulated bowl. There are so many flowers. There is one at practically every intersection of the reticulation! Circa 1880.

Underglazed blue crossed sword mark with a "T" for Thieme Saxonia an outstanding Royal Manufactury similar to Meissen. Carl Thieme was a famous artist at Meissen who later started his own factory and obtained court patronage (absolutely necessary at the time). Thieme also used the famous hard paste porcelain and the secret Meissen formulas. (This is not a copy cat Meissen mark. The letter ""T"" between the crossed swords is for Thieme. See Kovel porcelain marks book.)

1"" high, 9.7" by 9" lozenge form bowl. Very good condition with teeny flakes and restored wing to one cupid (not easily noticeable).
