Description:
c1900 HAND PAINTED CUSTARD GLASS KEROSENE LAMP Album Album Album Album Album Album c1900 HAND PAINTED CUSTARD GLASS KEROSENE LAMP ITEM This is an exceptional c1900 kerosene lamp. It has a clear glass chimney, set into a Queen Anne burner that is set onto a clear pattern glass font (it's amber in the photos because it still has kerosene in it) which rests on a hand painted custard glass center that is set into a patinated cast iron base. The painted section has lovely colorful flowers. Note that the wick adjuster knob is marked "Made in America" which is not a common mark (made in USA is more common). This lamp is in working condition with a working wick and was found with kerosene in it (we will remove the kerosene for shipping). It would make an exceptional addition to any collection. Age (ca) c1900-1920 Dimensions The base is 4-1/2" X 4-1/2". The lamp is 13" High without the chimney and the chimney is 8-1/2" High Condition Good original condition. Working with a good wick. The base has a bit of wear on the patina which is age appropriate (see photos) Provenance This item is from a lovely old sprawling Victorian home on Long Island's north shore. The owners are retiring and moving south and giving up some of the treasures that have been in their family for multiple generations. Apparently, at one time this was an extremely wealthy family ... they had multiple sets of china, an enormous amount of quality silver and other decorative accessories that spoke of 'old money'. The pieces from this estate are "fresh" to the market, having just come from the home of the family that have owned these pieces for generations. Please scroll down for more photos and any of them.
