Description: A very pretty cameo brooch made from black molded plastic. The back was molded seperately and the oval cameo was glued into the recessed space. I have been unsuccessful in trying to determine the type of plastic. I really do not believe it to be bakelite or vulcanite. I think it is a type of thermoset plastic. The molded cameo is a flat black color accept for right above her ear. Looks like someone may have tried to coat it with some type of shiney material at one time. Does not detract from the overall appearance of the brooch. The pin mechanisims on the back are imbedded and do appear to be tight. It is in working order. There are minor surface scuffs and scratches. It measures aprox. 2 1/2"X1 7/8".
