Description: This antique Japanese bronze Ebisu is from the early Meiji Period c.1880. Ebisu is one of the seven lucky gods of Japan dating back to the 17th century and reflects ancient concepts and symbolic associations with Japanese animism, chinese taoism and Indian religion. He is a portly fisherman who carries a sea bream and fishing rod. Regarded as the patron of fisherman and business. Excellent condition. Fishing rod is bamboo. c.1880. (excluding fishing rod 5" x 4") (excluding fishing rod 14cm x 10cm). EMS Shipping/Insurance to USA or Western Europe $50.
