Description:
This is a magnificent replica bust statue of the famous King of Thailand, Rama V. There is no mistaking its unique quality and design, which is certain to make it a talking point in your home, wherever you choose to display it. King Rama V or King Chulalongkorn (1853 – 1910) was the monarch who steered Thailand clear of colonization and initiated the Chakri Reformation to put Thailand on the road to modernization. He is revered today as a great monarch and that date of his death on 23 October 1910 is a national holiday. His image can be found in most Thai homes and businesses. During his reign from 1868-1910 he continued the westernisation of his kingdom and the fact that he wrote and spoke excellent English was a great asset to the country. He travelled extensively, including to Europe, seeking ideas to help improve the life of his subjects. This bust of Rama V is beautifully carved from bronze. The replica signature of 'Chiparis' is engraved below the bust and above the pedestal base. This classic bronze bust would look wonderful as a displayed centre piece.
