Welcome! This is an antique, English brass mortar and pestle, very heavy for its size, weighing almost 2 1/2 pounds (2 pounds, 3 ounces to be exact.) The mortar is 2 5/8 inches high, with a diameter of 3 7/8 inches at the mouth, 2 11/16 inches at the bottom underneath. The pestle measures 6 inches long. The mortar and pestle have seen some use: the interior of the mortar is dark and matte, with touches of verdigris and the pestle has some flattened areas at the knobs on either end from pounding substances in the mortar. There are several imperfections in the exterior brass, one of which I'm showing in one of the photos, but these appear to be from the original foundry work. Overall, this set is in good antique condition. Buy it now!
