Description:
Offering this ornate pair of 19th century victorian brass andirons from an old grand estate home in northern Ohio. Each measures 25 1/2 inches tall x 14 inches wide x 21 inches deep including the adjustable arms. Very ornate raised scrolled leaf pattern on ball tops and columns; large open scrolled leaves around each of the victorian dolphins which have the open mouth pattern; these scrolls form the curved legs on each andiron. Very good condition, no cracks, no dents; light wear on the support irons from being near the fire for years, but very sturdy; just surface build up. The dolphins on the inside of the andirons have darkened more than the outside ones due to the soot from the fire. This is the original patina on the andirons, they have not been cleaned. Polished they would be spectacular or if you prefer they are very handsome with this patina which adds charm and history. We have more photos available via email. The workmanship on these is excellent; the perfect finishing touch for your fireplace!
